Beautiful, Brinkle and All

I love Hailey's brinkle. I think it is beautiful. It is her very own unique mark from God. We've had lots of conversations about Hailey's brinkle. But a few day's ago she said something out of the blue that made me very sad.

Hailey: (in near tears) Momma, no one is gonna want to marry me because of my brinkle.

Me: That's not true, Hailey. Everyone who knows you, loves your brinkle. And when you find a special boy who loves you like the princess you are he'll love your brinkle too.

Jackson: Hailey, I bet boys are going to fight over who gets to marry you.

Today we went to Wal Mart and Hailey's amazing brother shared a gift card that he won with her. She picked out this Barbie that has dark hair like hers. And then when we got home we put a brinkle on her too. Now she's beautiful like Hailey.
It saddens my heart that little girls feel this way. It's even worse that it starts at just five years old!

bless her. i agree, the self-doubt starts way too young.

how precious that your sweet jackson piped up to encourage his dear sister. what a sweet family you have!

sure have missed you. I hope the jobs are going well. are you and Jay at the same branch?

did you get the money i left in your mailbox a couple of weeks ago? if not, please tell me...b/c i could actually mail it! i hate to bug you at work, since i won't be bringing any business in with me (like at the hollow log :)

sounds like things are crazy, but i'm glad to hear that things seem to be crazy good. especially that cleaning off the desk!
